Hi All,
I have the the latest versions of Photoshop and MacOS on my MBP 16' M1 Max with 64gb of RAM and 1tb of SSD.
Whenever I press the Cancel button in the Select and Mask feature, I am faced with a 6 second long spinning wheel (please see the attached video). This is becoming quite irritating and is not something I would expect from a new device.
I also have a 2013 15' MBP and the canceling of the Select and Mask feature there is near instant.
I am wondering why this is happening on my new M1 Max and have already done some troubleshooting, like un&reinstall of photoshop, this didnt help. Could anyone please provide me with some insight or advice?
Thank you
Try setting to Device - does the same delay occur?

Yes that has remedied the problem, thank you very much!!
Can I perhaps latch on to you for one other issue I have with 'Select Subject' option inside and outside of Select and Mask tool please? 2 issues as per bellow:
1:) Clicking on 'Select Subject' in 'Select and Mask tool does not select the subject. When I click on 'Select Subject' a dialog box appears that reads 'Couldnt find a Subject to Select. There might not be prominent objects in the image'
I have attached the screenshot of said problem.
2:) When I am in any of the selection tools and then go to press on 'Select Subject', it doesnt select the (human) subject, it only makes a completely irelevant random selection. TDuring this process a dialog box apperas saying: Processiong your image on your device. Change settings in Preferencess > Image Processing.
I have attached the video here where you can see this in action.
Now I have 15' MBP from 2013, dont have this problem on there and Image Processing preferences are exact same as on my new laptop.

Check your settings in Preferences (Settings)>Image Processing and see what it is set to. If your images are quite large and resources are limited, it could be recommending Cloud processing.
