A space in the Photoshop UI for reference images...?

Is there some way to place reference images in Photoshop outside of the bounds of the canvas? I guess the best comparison I have is to a layout like Illustrator where you can have multiple art boards.

If this is possible, I'd love to know! If not, maybe Adobe would consider adding such a feature...?

Thanks!

I open a 2nd image in a new document tab.

Then go to Window > Arrange > Tile Vertically or Horizontally (whichever you prefer).  See screenshot.

Hi Phlarbies,

If you are thinking of the storage area that InDesign calls a Pasteboard and in Illustrator is called a Scratch area or Pasteboard, then no, Photoshop has nothing equivalent to that. PS did add artboards that are similar to the ones in Illustrator if that’s what you mean.

You can move something off the canvas in PS, but it becomes hidden, unlike in Illustrator and InDesign where it remains visible on the pasteboard.
