Hi everyone

i have a question about Adobe Photshop CS6.

My problem is, that i don't now from which folder Adobe Photoshop CS6 takes its fonts.

I need to edit a picture with "Helvetica" Fonts, but i can't find "Helvetica" in the drop down list in Photoshop CS6.

My OS is Windows 10 Pro x64

Do i need to install the Helvetica Fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts ?

Is there another path for Adobe Photoshop?

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes, install the Helvetica Fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts.

Photoshop cs6 reads the fonts installed there.

Do you still have the fonts you downloaded? Not in the Windows Fonts folder?

I have the fonts in my download folder.

But if i restart the PC the fonts are no more in C:\Windows\Fonts.

    I don't know why.

Is Helvetica a free font? I thought you now had to purchase it. Maybe that was just Helvetica Neue.

    Hi Chuck,

you are right, the font is called "Helvetica Neue" after i installed it.

Also the font Future i have installed in C:\Windows\Fonts.

After the first try the fonts were there and available in Photoshop.

But after a reboot the fonts were no more in C:\Windows\Fonts.

What could be the problem here?

    Thank you very much.

Did you copy the font over from a mac?

macOS uses a different format (dfont) for some fonts that windows won't read.

Jeff Arola's answer is correct. In addition to installing fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts you can also double click the font file(s) you want to install and install it directly to the fonts folder. Your font will also appear in Photoshop.
