This issue dates back to (around) version 26.4.1 and kept happening throught to the latest version (26.5.0).
This is what happens: I start Windows, start Photoshop and try to open an image or create a new file. After a few seconds of unresponding, Photoshop crashes. I start it again and can work for 8 hours straight, it won't crash again.
This behavior happens with my home computer and my work computer, which have totally different hardware.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? I've attached my latest crash report, if that's of any help.
Thanks!

Hi! We are so sorry to hear that you are having this issue. Have you checked your system requirements for both machines regarding this version of Photoshop? Here is a help doc to see if either of your systems meet the system requirements: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html
Please let us know if this helps or if it does not fix the issue?

I don't think that this a requirements issue..
Its really frustrating and Adobe have not made a concerted effort to fix the persistent bug or issue.
I've had to move goal posts this past 60 days and its also annoying clients due to the crashes.

Hey Michelle,
Thanks for replyng and trying to help. My computers do fulfill the requirements. I should mention I've been using Photoshop since version 7 back in the 90s, and I'm not exactly a newbie.
Since it happened to me on both computers, I'd hoped this issue had been reported before. I'm now thinking this is not the case.

Yes, Some of us have been using Adobe product since they where disk.
Adobe create cloud has been rubbish since its inception with too many updates.
both Lightroom and photoshop crash so often I sometimes ponder what's the point of using adobe products!

Version 7--that was a very good version! I still have it on a 2004 Mac laptop because I have a very old scanner that still works but will not work with the newer softward!
Hopefully one of the engineers who watch over threads in the forums will have an answer for you. I do have one question that I thought of. Have you checked to see if you have the latest driver for your Graphics Processor Card? I was also wondering if you have tried turning off the Graphics Processor Card and then restarting to see if you have the same issue. I know this is basic and you might have already thought of this, but I just wanted to touch all of the bases. Preferences>Perfromance>Uncheck Graphics Processor and then restart. If it doesn't change anything then just turn it back on.
Let us know if this does or does not help!

I've used Photoshop on this system for a couple of years now, since v2024. And it worked just fine with the same video card and same drivers. And I updated PS each time without any problems in running it. I wouldn't want to disable my GPU, it brings Photoshop's power down significantly. And I don't see why it would be an issue with the drivers, since it only happens once per Windows session.

Two different computers is interesting. Can you think of anything common to both of them? Scripts? Settings? Custom workspaces, shortcuts etc.?
Do you use the beta version, and if yes, does that do the same thing?
If it was me, I'd be doing a reinstall and use the cleaner tool.

I'm tempted to suggest a manual Preference reset, but the two different systems makes that unlikely to work.

I've had an issue come on recently that shows when I switch between the release and beta version. Sometimes I am unable to open the other version because a process has been left running, and I have to End Task it in Task Manager. I'm thinking this is my Windows 11 setup rather than Photoshop's fault, but who knows?

I don't have much custom stuff, apart from some custom actions.
The 2 computers have similar brands of CPU, motherboard, and RAM, but totally different models.
I never install any beta, so that's not the issue.
I will try to reset the Preferences on one computer, see if that fixes things. But I'm not doing a full reinstall, I prefer to do the "dance": Start PS -> open a file -> PS crashes -> start it again and it works flawlessly throughout the day, no matter how many times I start or close it.
Thank you for your support. I will write back if resetting the preferences works.

None of these tips or tricks really work..
Ive tried every single tip on youtube, adobe community, and still, you get billed for software that does not work.
