Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 Unbearable Slow

This is probably a post that's been answered plenty of times, and yes, I have gone through all the "improve performance" tricks and tips.

So today Photoshop started running extremely slow. Moving objects makes the entire thing lag like hell. Trying to select the text in a text field to edit the font takes forever. I have never had issues with Photoshop before, and this just started today. I have restared Photoshop many times, the PC many times but nothing is working. I have gone through the "performance improvement" things multiple times but nothing helps.

I'm trying to get work done, but it's impossible. It's like going on a race track trying to win the race with a car that's limited to 20 km/h.

Really hope someone from staff is still watching this.
My office mac decided he's done with Photoshop this monday morning. Photoshop is running extremely slow. To the point where I'm having troubles zooming in and out of the picture and selecting layers let alone doing something on it. Granted, it's a pretty large complicated file (about 2 gigs, lots of layers, masks, paths, 7500px long side) - as most of product retouching files are. But as of Friday, it was working fine. Plus it's not even the largest one I've worked with so far. And the problem continues on smaller files too.
No third party plugins. Latest version. Resetting preferences doesn't help. Turning GPU off/on doesn't help. I'm running an up to date machine with 64 gb RAM, photoshop is using about 70% of it. Tried every setting for cache - doesn't change anything (although I'm kind of frustrated that photoshop doesn't have options for retouchers - large dimentions AND lots of layers ).

To say I'm frustrated is an understatement.
I feel like I had that issue before too and tried everything and nothing seemed to have worked until problem would seemingly fix itself. Sorry, don't have any better explanation, nothing seemed to help until something did but it wasn't me =) =) =)

The issue related to slow performance when working with text selection (in certain fonts), and a number of other issues, has been addressed in Photoshop CC 2017.1 which was released last night.

Please update your Photoshop version, and let us know if this addresses the issues that you were seeing.

I am having similar problems. Very laggy, and even has even completely frozen a couple of times. I am taking your advice and pasting my system info here. This is the worst performance I have experienced so far and have otherwise been extremely happy with the application. I am currently mucking about with painting and this is when I noticed the poor performance.

In my preferences I see that PS has 14439MB of RAM available and I have set it to 9963 or 69% of available RAM. The ideal range indicated is 7941-10396. These values seem a bit random but I have had them set like this for as long as I can remember using PS on this laptop. I have taken Jesper's advice and set the cache level to "Default/Photos" and will see if that helps. I don't know why it would show that I have only 2MB of RAM available. I am going to set the amount of RAM to the maximum of 10396, close the application and restart and see if that helps. And again, thank you for taking the time to respond and offer some suggestions.
