Adobe Photoshop CS5 Typeface/Font fee for commercial use?

Explorer ,
Nov 27, 2023 Nov 27, 2023

I own Adobe Photoshop CS5 that I still use to this day.
I am in the process of opening a storefront on Spring(print on demand service), and I would like to use my Adobe Photoshop CS5 to create my text-"designs", that I will print on the merchandise I intend to sell on my storefront.

So, my question is...are the typefaces/fonts(not sure which word is the right word) in my Adobe Photoshop CS5 available for commercial use or do I have to pay something to somebody before I use the typefaces/fonts on my merchandise(and sell it)?

For example I would like to use the typeface/font called Courier New and Impact, that I see in my Adobe Photoshop CS5, in my designs. Am I free to do that, or as I asked above, do I have to pay something to be allowed to do that?

@T33882569399n you dont download Adobe fonts to your computer - they are activated through your CC account on fonts.adobe.com and synced through your CC desktop app for availability in the Adobe programs.

CC...I guess thats whats called Creative Cloud right? I was just reading about that...I though it was like the old days, when you click on a download button and you downlaod the file with the typeface/font, and the put it in the proper folder on your computer...but thats ok, I'll just download that CC-app, or whatever it is, and download it that way 🙂

@T33882569399n Do you have a current CC subscription or are only using CS5? If you don't have a subscription you wont have access to Adobe Fonts to sync and they wont sync with CS5 - that predates the service by a number of years.

You wont have access to sync the font without a paid subscription.

Ah man, can't catch a break here! haha

I guess I'll just stick with my Courier New then, it's basiccaly the same typeface/font as Adobes Courier typeface/font.

As you said yesterday, I'm overthinking all of this anyway.

Adobe does have fonts which are available on a free subscription.

I can try tomorrow and see if the library of fonts in the free subscription has the Courier typeface/font.

But the question is, will CC work with my Adobe Photoshop CS5(since it's so old)?

I'm not sure what you are asking. There is LITERALLY no problem whatsoever, in any way shape or form. Not technically or legally. Those typefaces come with Windows. They may or may not be bundled with Adobe products. Just use the built-in Windows versions.

Well, I do want to use them, but not knowing if they can be used for commercial use got me worried. You know, since I'll be making money of products(and my YouTube channel), that use these typefaces/fonts. And knowing that people need to have license to actually use some typefaces/fonts in their designs/products. So I wanted to ask people(you guys) that know more about that stuff than me.

It all comes down to the license. Fonts are licensed for certain uses and possibly not others. For example, some fonts are not licensed for embedding in a PDF file or for use on a server for creating web to print files (W2P), but they can be printed or otherwise used locally. Fonts are software, and the use of the software is governed by the license.

And that's understandable, but I'm having hard time finding that type of information, thats why I came here to ask.

Many other typefaces/fonts I've seen the last couple of weeks have that information clearly displayed...but, when it comes to Courier New and Impact, that I'm already using on my channel, and that I would like to use on my merch...difficult to find.
