Allow to group Artboards

It would be good to be able to create groups of AtrBoards. I am creating Multiple sizes pictures in the same design but with a different items. So i would like group same items in different sizes on ArtBoards

What role do Artboard play in your workflow exactly? 

How do you produce the ultimate output files? 

It might be possible to set up a process with a Script that foregoes ArtBoards and instead uses Layer Masks or Vector Masks on Groups instead …
