Artwork canvas moving on mouse release - Photoshop

I have a strange problem: when I go to move a selected object on an existing canvas, the moment I let go of the mouse button, the entire canvas moves. Which of course means I have to re-align the new object. Repeatedly. Any idea why this happens?

Hi Christopher,

That sounds like a strange issue. Which version of Photoshop and the operating system are you working on?
Could you try resetting the preferences of Photoshop and see if it helps?https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

 

Note: Make sure that you back up all your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. Migrate presets, actions, and settings
