Background colour change applies to foreground

It used to work just as fine until yesterday - the background colour I want to change gets applied to the entire image. Any ideas would be highly appreciated! 🙂

And what is the cutout layer set to in terms of blending mode/ blending options? This looks like there might be some conditional blending involved.

Havent changed anything intentionally, and attaching another pic with the blending options window when opened, if you can have a look, please 🙂
