Blue outline after cropping

Engaged ,

I was messing around with the Crop tool the other day and now every time I crop something it leaves the outline of the original image in blue.   What do I have to turn off to prevent this?

If I go to the View menu when this happens I always see that "Extras" is checked.   When I un-check it, the blue outline goes away.    But the next time I do a crop both the outline and checkmark are "baaack!"  Show > slices is NOT checked.

See image.

Thanks in advance.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

Is »Show Transform Controls« checked in the Options Bar for the Move Tool?
