  • A friend is running ver. 22 and having a problem with an icon popping up on the background layers of any new image.

Does anyone know what it represents or how to get rid of the thing?

Usually that means the Layer Panel Thumbnail Size is set to None.

In the Layers Panel flyout menu under Panel Options the Thumbnail Size can be set to something other than None.

Thanks. I must have hit a hotkey or something and all my layer icons turned into a brush.

Goodness. I didn't know that!

I couldn't find a shortcut that controlled layer thumbnail size, but there are quite a few unlisted, hard wired shortcuts (Shift Ctrl Alt T for Step & Repeat for instance)

We can choose to have various functions turned off to simplify a particular Ui setup, and save that to a custom Workspace.  Something else I didn't know is that we can colour code Ui panels and features (despite it being clear as day if you look at the panel).  That's actually pretty damn cool, and something I am going to have to waste a bunch of time trying out. 🙂
