In Photoshop I set my Wacom Intuos Pro Pen bottom rocket button to Alt+Right click  With  a brush type tool active all I need do the press and hold that button and move the pen close to the Tablet's surface and move it up.down and left/right  to adjust the size and hardness.  Photoshop shows a preview on my display when doing that. Simple and easy. I have CS6, CC 2014 and CC 2018.  This works all three versions I normally use CC 2014. Its my preferred version of Photoshop.

In Photoshop I also use Wintab API not Microsoft INK. Also in Photoshop I only map the pen to the display I edit  images on.
