Bug Report: Pshop 2020 destroys files at 99% save.

(Mac Catalina, Pshop 2020)

We recently upgraded to the very latest Photoshop (21.0.2), and now if we try to work from a server, Photoshop destroys our files upon attempting to save our work. Pshop freezes at 99%, then we get the spinning wheel of death. The file cannot then be recovered, the Mac must be rebooted, and the work is of course lost. This happens at random intervals, and not every time a file is opened from the server. We do not experience this problem if we work from the Mac's local hard drive.

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop v21.0.2 is not saving the file as it gets stuck at 99% and then corrupts the file. Please checkout the steps below:

1) Try going to the System Preferences of the macOS, then to Security and Privacy and add Photoshop to the Accessibility under the Privacy tab. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop 2020 under the Files and Folders section.
2) Turn on the Legacy Compositing option in Performance preferences. Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > Performance (macOS). Select Legacy Compositing. Quit and relaunch Photoshop

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Akash

LATEST

I just went to "Accessibility" in the Mac OS settings and attempted to add Pshop 2019. It ignored me and added Pshop 2020. Even though I was nowhere near the Pshop 2020 icon. I can't stop laughing. Seems like every one of man's invention since the wheel has failed us.

Well known Catalina issue. If you look around the forum there are hundreds of posts about this.

Most likely this requires a fix from both Apple and Adobe. That's probably why it has taken so long.

You CANNOT work off a server directly. Adobe doesn't support it because, well, you see why. Copy files to your local drive.

Yes, that too. But this appears to be the same Catalina issue.

While I would never save directly to our server, I can (if someone came in and held a gun to my head...)

I actually do it on occasion but I know what might go wrong. I'm also using a stable client/server configuration on a fast network. Even then, its a once-in-a-great-while thing.

And yes Catalina and Adobe are not getting along well, at least according to reports. My Mac production machines are on High Sierra and Mojave still.

What am I missing? I've been working directly on Adobe files directly from a server for years, and I never experienced this issue before. What is the point of using a server if Adobe recommends not working directly off a server? I suspected it was either the latest Photoshop, and/or Catalna, because our problems began shortly after upgrading to both.

Has anyone tried Akash's recommended fix, shown above? Did it work?
