I have CS6 and would like to add the Camera Raw Filter to my filter menu. I was under the impression this was possible, however after downloading the plug in it would not start up in Photoshop. Will this work? Is there any way to get the filter in my photoshop version?
Thanks!
Not possible with CS6. CS6 ACR version was ACR 7 Newer ACR versions new features were not enabled in CS6. Only newer ACR versions new Cameras RAW files support was available in CS6 and Adobe ended that practice after ACR version 9.1.1. ACR 9.1.1 is the last version to CS6 can use. The current ACR version is ACR 10.3.
ACR as a Filter was introduced in Photoshop CC version 14 ACR version 8. CS6 is Photoshop version 13.

So if I want the camera raw filter feature would my only option be to upgrade to a subscription of cc? I would be okay paying for a one time upgrade but I really don't want to pay monthly for an upgrade that probably isn't that significant and I've already invested quite a bit of money in photoshop over the years.

So have most Adobe users invested a lot. If CS6 does all you need. You can download Adobe DGN converter and create Adobe DGN Raw file for you new Camera RAW Files. You know the bugs that are in CS6 and will not be bitten by any new bugs Adobe introduces. As long as CS6 runs you have a stable editing environment.
