Camera Raw high VRAM usage

I can't see anything out of the ordinary in the Task Manager screenshot. This is how it should look.

The system info also looks fine - except you are really low on disk space. 85 GB isn't much. I'm unsure whether this could be your problem - for Photoshop it would be if you have a lot of big files open, and a high number of history states. Reducing history states to 5-10 will dramatically shrink the scratch disk requirement.

However, ACR runs outside Photoshop's address space. It will normally not use the scratch disk, nor will it use memory from Photoshop's allocation, it needs its own. It all runs independently from Photoshop, and if RAM or VRAM runs out, it will go to the system pagefile. If that disk space is already taken by the scratch disk, it could slow things down.

All of which boils down to making sure there is enough disk space. When it runs low, it affects different processes at the same time, possibly competing for the space left. I'd say number one priority is to clean out your system drive.

Hi, it makes sense the ram would be used to nearly full capacity, and most of the time it hovers around 80%, the problem can go away if I restart photoshop. Posted are the specs and screenshots you asked for, the gpu tab is with 4 raw images open.

Please post the full Help > System Info, and also a screenshot of the Windows Task Manager, set to the GPU tab.

It's normal that the GPU uses available VRAM up to around 85-90% (memory is there to be used, after all) - but it should then level out. That in itself shouldn't bog down the system and it doesn't here.

We have seen a few cases of excessive GPU memory usage, to the point of crashing the system - but that happens on systems with an integrated GPU that accesses shared system memory. If that goes unchecked, it will start eating up the system pagefile, bringing down the whole system. 

All that said, there may be a bug somewhere. There seems to be an intermittent problem with capping GPU memory usage in some situations, and it may probably take several forms.
