Can't drop JPG images into Photoshop today

hmm it just started working again today. Curious.

On YouTube it appears many people have had this trouble across the decade. Not sure which fix is appropriate though.

in order to help you, we need more info, such as the provenance of the photos, exact ps version; if renaming to .jpg changes anything, if you restarted Photoshop/your computer...

Does File > Open work? 

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
