Hello - I am running Photoshop v24.7.0 and macOS Ventura 13.2.1 on a MacBook Pro Apple M2 Max chip. I am not able to use the Removal Tool, the error message I get "Can't use the tool because your system is running Rosetta."
A few questions - 1) What is Rosetta; 2) Do I need to run Rosetta; 3) How do I remove Rosetta so that I can run the Removal Tool?
Thank You very much for your assistance!
Lucia

Hi @Lucia Maresca Rosetta is a Mac OS solution allowing you to run software in old simulated Intel environments. Its used in Photoshop when you have third party plugins that are not compatible with M1/M2 chips.
You can change the setting by quitting Photoshop and then going to the actual app and Get Info on the application. From there you can turn off Rosetta.

Hello @Kevin Stohlmeyer thank you very much for your immediate response. Although I am not following you on "going to the actual app and Get Info on the application" Do you mean open Rosetta? If this is what you mean I am not able to find Rosetta? Thank You!!!!

Hi @Daniel30999591pppb it is not - the plugins she wants to use are not M1 compatible and that is a requirement for remove tool.

After getting the same error message "Can't use the Remove Tool because your system is running Rosetta," I followed this advice, opened the Adobe Photoshop 2024 info in the applications folder-- but I couldn't find anything about Rosetta. Here is a screen shot of the info panel that came up on my computer. Please advise.

I followed the link you provided, but, as I showed in the above screen shot, I do not see the "Open using Rosetta option". That seems to be the only way to switch to and from Rosetta on Mac OS. What am I missing here?

I turned off Rosetta about a week ago and I got the Remove Tool to work. However then the Liquify Filter and the whole filter gallery stopped working! Is there a way to have both the remove tool AND the filter gallery working at the same time? It's kid of ridiculous that we have to keep messing with Rosetta when Apple Silicon is on M4 already!

Did you migrate from an older Mac? Liquify and Filter Gallery should work fine.

I did migrate from a 2018 15" MBP... I'm currently on a 16" M1 Pro Macbook Pro

Remove and reinstall all of your Adobe apps. You never want to migrate apps, especially from Intel to Apple Silicon.

My Adobe apps were never migrated...they were installed fresh. Plus everything worked BEFORE the remove tool was added. So it wasn't anything to do with any migration

Oh, you just said you migrated from an older computer.

I'm yes I did...but creative cloud was NEVER installed on the older computer...So my comment was correct.

@michaelr13185634 unfortunately if you need to use Rosetta for certain features, other GPU intensive features will be disabled. It's an either/or situation which will soon be rendered moot as Apple/Adobe will sooner or later stop supporting Rosetta/Intel/Non-Arm versions of the software. The Rosetta "trick" was only to be used a a stop gap.

@michaelr13185634 have you upgraded to the latest Photoshop build? These all should be working without having to go to Rosetta. This as an issue back in 2023.

"Latest version" is meaningless. Please post a system report Help->System Info if you want us to know what you are using.
