Hey people,
I wanted to apply a Camera RAW filter onto a coposite I'm working on.
The Filter shows up in the gallery, but every time I click it there appears a pop-up stating "The operation could not be completed."
I tried to open the Camera Raw preferences, but when I click it, the menu disappears and nothing happens.
I downloaded the newest Camera Raw installer and installed it. Same problems as before.
I reinstalled and updated Photoshop 3 times, still the same problem.
My MacBook has a M1 Pro chip and is on Monterey 12.5.1
Does anyone know a fix to that problem?
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Sven

Can you open RAW files into Camera RAW?
You can reset preferences, I'd try Camera RAW first then Photoshop.

Hey,
no, I cannot choose Camera RAw, nor find it in my programs.
Also, if I want to open up Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, it gives me a pop up with "cannot initialize Camera RAW" and then shuts down.
So, basically, anythint that uses Camera RAW isn't available for me?

Camera RAW is a plugin, not a separate app. And Lightroom uses a separate engine so a problem in Photoshop has nothing to do with LR. If you use File->Open in Photoshop and choose a RAW file, what happens?
Please post your system info from the Help menu.

Use Creative Cloud and uninstall Photoshop (keep preferences).
Use Creative Cloud and reinstall Photoshop.
Do you now see Adobe Camera Raw?

I did that 4 times now and I can see Camera Raw in my Creative Cloud as "active" since the firs installation.

You could try running the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of the Adobe software before reinstalling it (yet again): https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Try resetting the Camera Raw preferences:
Hold down the Command key and select Photoshop > Preferences > Camera Raw (macOS) or hold down the Ctrl key and select Edit > Preferences > Camera Raw (Windows).
Click Yes in the dialog that asks "Delete the Camera Raw Preferences?"

unfortunately, that doesn't help anything.
As soon as i press "camera raw" under preferences, the menu closes and nothing happens.
No matter if I use the command key or not.
Is there any other solution?

Reset your entire Photoshop application. Go to Photoshop Preferences/General and click the reset button.

Unfortunately, that didn't help either.
For some reason I cannot close Photoshop without forcing it to close and then I get a pop up if I want to report it to adobe.

Did you ever get this issue resolved? We are experiencing the same thing on a first-generation 13" MacBook Pro M1 as well. Opened the latest version of Photoshop 2024 and tried to use Camera RAW "GPU Acceleration Required to use Camera RAW" But what's strange is Camera RAW has been working just fine up until today on this smachine.
