cannot paste smart object from AI into PS

I've done this 10,000 times, but today, photoshop is unable to paste an illustrator file into the document. I get this window: The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. All applications 2020 apps are up to date.

Try a couple of things:

• Can you paste anything from Illustrator to PS?
• Can you choose File > Place in PS and place it as a SO?

What can you tell us about the Illustrator file?

Maybe it's too complicated? Maybe some linked objects? non native objects?

it doesn't matter how simple the file is. It cannot or will not pate into ps.

thanks for the ideas.

ran disk utilities incase there was wonkiness with the os. unistalled both ps and ai along with prefs and re-installed. same problems exist. 😞

no. i cannot past anything into PS from AI. I’ve tried very basic files, like a box shape. Nothing works.

So, try to reset your Photoshop (first) and Illustrator (secend) preferences

Use Ctrl+Alt+Shift kays pressed together during opening Photoshop and Illustrator. Window about reseting preferencess should appear. Confirm it

version 24.01 of AI solved the problem. It would be nice to have the application debugged prior to release. i guess adobe saves a few bucks and has us de-bug it for them. When an application is finally "de-bugged", keep it on the shelf for at least 6 months before sending out another version that needs de-bugging. You just waste more of our time. Thanks!
