Cannot print anymore from Photoshop

I was printing some photos and suddenly I got stuck.  Images doesn't go to printer queue.
I can print them from Preview app or other, not from Photoshop.
I upgraded the printer firmware (Brother 1012) and reset the printer.
I don't get what else to do.

Perhaps try a thorough reset of Photoshop preferences?

(read this entire post before acting please)

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.

If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

 

Here’s some info on how to do that:

Have you tried holding down the Shift key and then click Print? It clears and resets Photoshop's Print dialog.

Hi,
It didn't solve the issue. The printer queue is still empty

I don't get why green check Sleep. Refreshing with the blue button the printer light blinks.

Assuming your printer is plugged in and detected by your computer, when I can't print, 99% of the time it's a memory or print driver issue.

 

Try restarting your computer.

Make sure you have the latest compatible print drivers directly from the printer manufacturer's website.

I also tried to print a blank page with some text.
Rebooted the computer.
Turned off for 15+ seconds and then on.
No way.
I printed a web page from Safari successfully.

I don't see how to Print to PDF but I could save a copy as Photoshop PDF, opened it in Preview and printed it successfully

Printer Settings > Printer drop-list gives me the option to print to Adobe PDF.

From Photoshop I tried Print One Copy and it printed successfully!! (no settings choice here)
I tried again Print but didn't work.
In printer settings I leave the default setting as I always do, I only change the scale size

@Marciano#1 MAC, reset printing system:
On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners
Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.
After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.
Reinstall the print driver, only from the manufacturer, not Apple.

You may like to re-install the printer drivers to check if that makes a difference?

  1. Quit Photoshop.

  2. Navigate to Photoshop's Preferences folder.

    Windows: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

     
    Note: The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS. To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see How to access hidden user library files.
  3. Drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a back-up of your settings

  4. Open Photoshop.

     New preferences files will be created in their original location.

You may want to backup your settings and custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Before you reset your preferences

in case of future issues, I suggest you make a copy as Adobe may need one to check problematic references. 

Quit Photoshop.
Go to Photoshop's Preferences folder

  Note for those on macOS: - be aware that the user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.

  In the Finder, open the “Go” menu whilst holding down the Option (Alt) key.

Note for those on macOS:

Preference preservation is affected by macOS permissions,

you’ll need to allow Photoshop ‘Full Disk Access’ in your Mac OS Preferences/Security and Privacy

 

If that doesn't fix the issue:

Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.

Still hanging? 

Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. 

Do you still have problems?

 

 

 

It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.

 

It’s recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.

(See above about preserving preferences though! It’s worth preserving them unless they are corrupted.)

Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.

 

Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.

I pressed the space bar while File -> Print and I got the second printer window I didn't get before and the printing was successfull. Thanks!Screen Shot 2023-08-16 at 20.15.28.png
