Cannot use Photoshop on a laptop - interface and images cropped to a partial macOS

I have always used a big display with Photoshop.

Now for the first time I would have to use it on my MacBook Pro retina.

But it doesn't work.

The interface is cropped and strangely displaced.

The panels from the right show up partiall to the left.

The picture is cropped to a quarter, the rest is off screen.

Photoshop seems to not recognize my screen size properly (screenshot attached)

UI scaling is grayed out - and it is impossible to use Photoshop this way.

How can I get Photoshop CC to be properly scaled so I can actually work on my laptop with it?

I suggest you first move the panel on the left by dragging from the top.

Then click on the Green Maximize button to fit photoshop to your screen.

Taking a shot here, but have you tried going to Window/Workspace and choosing Essentials and resetting the workspace?

I have had this on my Mac laptop when I unplug a larger screen. Resetting the workspace always snapped it back into the current monitor boundaries.

The interface is so messed up I can't even begin to set up a new workspace.

No, Photoshop does not work on my MacBook Pro, and no, I did not find a solution in this forum.

Did you try what Kevin said? Go to Window > Workspace > Essentials, followed by Window > Workspace > Reset Essentials. If that fails, go to Photoshop > Preferences > Restore Preferences on Quit. Then Quit and Relaunch.

Also, what are the specs of your MacBook Pro? And what OSX?

Hi there,

As UI scaling is grayed out, could you please let us know the version of Photoshop and the operating system you're working with?

Also, please have a look at this community thread and let us knwo if it helps: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/retina-display-ui-scaling-for-photoshop-2018/td-p/9463446

Hello Sahil,

this problem occurs on both PS 2019 and 2020 on Mac OS High Sierra.

I saw the thread but it does not contain a solution.

What I need is what I have to do to use Photoshop, either 2019 or 2020 on a laptop - currently it is impossible.
