Changes to Photoshop Transform Tools

Over time, the functionality of the transform tool has been modified.  For example, with a free transform on a rasterized text element, I could increase the height of the image, etc.  Now, it just repeats a standard scale; that is height, width are all relative to the increase in size.   I am finding this very frustrating.

I realize I can tweak the actual font (non-rasterized) with type tool options, but this is not what I want.  This is partly why I have older versions of PS, which is another issue.

Has anyone else noticed this change?

If I can understand your problem then you can also hold down Shift key while resizing to have old style or non-proportional scaling.

Another way is to click on chain icon (maintain aspect ratio) between W and H in the options bar to deselect it or unhighlight it. This icon when activated is holding proportions chained while scaling. This is sticky option so it should remain unticked.

In general if something is not represented in the Toolbar in Photoshop it is not called a »Tool«.
