Changing Photo To Look Like Painting

New Here ,
Apr 27, 2023 Apr 27, 2023

Hi ... I am trying to make the attached photos look like a painting. I followed the instructions on Adobe (https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/turn-photo-into-painting.html) but they don't look good. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @rachelb72253645 first, if these are the actual size - these images are very small. Second, I would clean these up with some adjustments for exposure, contrast and brightness. Some are a little dark with little contrast. After that it really comes down to experimentation using the method outlined in the tutorial as a guideline - not a finite recipe.

There is also the improved Oil Paint filter you can try using - https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/oil-paint-filter.html

Hi @rachelb72253645, either technique should be working for you. As @Kevin Stohlmeyer suggests, try the Oil Paint filter. I did a quick clean up and color adjustment, and then applied these brush amounts as an example of what is possible. Let us know if the new method works for you instead of the older Filter Gallery options. Hope that's helpful!
