Changing Photoshop's 'Save for Web' default file name from the document name to layer name?

Is there a way to change the file name that photoshop saves out when saving for web? As a default, Photoshop saves the optimised file as 'DocumentName.jpg' is there a way to change it to 'LayerName.jpg'?

For example I edit hundreds of product images everyday, so for me the most efficient way for me to edit them is to drag all images into a template photoshop document, all the layers have the name I need them saved as (e.g 12345678_1.jpg) but when saving for web the default changes to 'Template.jpg' and it would speed up my workflow massively if I didn't have to manually type in each file name for each image.

Hope this makes sense and hop you can help!

Then you may want to ask for help over on the Scripting Forum because a Script should be a able to do what you want in this case.

How about selecting a layer and choosing Layer > Export As?

When I did a quick test, it exported the selected layer with its name and the effect of all adjustment layers above it.

If that works for you, you can set the preferences for Export As by choosing File > Export > Export Preferences, so that in the future you would only have to choose Layer > Quick Export As and that would use your preferences.
