Clone stamp

Can you use the Clone tool in a layer mask like you can using the brush tool?

Did yoy try? If yoy try I would suggest the you Alt+Click on the layer mask in the layers palette so Photoshop displays the layer mask in the image window

You can use the clone stamp, but it will stamp the layer image rather than what's in the mask.

The old clone stamp worked fine, this new one wont work only repeting a new copy on the screen 😞

Please provide meaningful information, could you at least post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate what you are referring to? 

What are the Tool’s settings like »Sample« (see Options Bar)?

It works fine in the Photoshop Express but not in the original photoshop......
