It appears that my ColorSync folder is missing...
I upgraded to a Studio Mac (running Monterey 12.6.1)
I have a custom ICC profile I want to install like I did on my old Mac Pro - but I can't...
I have the same OS version and I have Color Sync in Computer/Library/ColorSync.
I do not understand why, but after some time went by, when I looked again, it appeared.
I only found it through this process:
1. Launch Colorsync Utility
2. Find Colorsync folder via menu - save in sidebar
3. Now I can copy into that folder which wwas previously invisible no matter what I did!

Ditto, Colorsync folders all present.
You can find the location of nearly all profiles using the ColorSync Utility which is an application provided by Apple.
One of the more common path's for profiles (there are a few):
/Users/~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles
Place them there, you're good to go. But also see:

I just found out Corporate IT might have 'locked me out' of changing it (weird that I can't see it though), so I guess I'll have to wait for the New Year for it to be fixed 😞

Hugh: weird that I can't see it though
The user Library folder (which may contain ICC profiles) is hidden by default on macOS. To access files in the hidden user Library folder, see How to access hidden user library files.

I hope this helps

The ColorSync folder in Monterey is in the Computer Library not user.

From that location you can access all the other locations including Application Support/Adobe

There is more than one such library. The user Library is where all my custom profiles (and others) reside and have under Monterey and, now, Ventura.

But that only allows those profiles to be read by the specific logged in user. They should go into the Computer library so that any logged in user can utilize them.

Especially in this case where it sounds like this is an IT controlled system.

We push profiles to our Mac users all the time using the Computer Color Sync location. It prevents one-off deployments or the risk of individuals loading wrong/outlier profiles.
If it's your home system and you are the only user, then yes the User Library basically does the same thing. In this case, I would stick with the Computer Color Sync location.

Again, they are by design, multiple such locations for ICC profiles called "Profiles" inside a folder called "ColorSync".
You can push them wherever you wish. But the fact that there is more than one location for such profiles is kind of important to explain to folks here.

That isn't the point*. There are multiple locations for ICC profiles. Just like .DCP profiles. Virtually every product I have that makes profiles, DCP included, places them in the User Library folder by default or provides an option for both.
They should go where those making them wish them to go.
*The statement: "The ColorSync folder in Monterey is in the Computer Library not user", is incomplete.

Kevin, I agree with digitaldog "There is more than one such library. The user Library is where all my custom profiles (and others) reside and have under Monterey and, now, Ventura. "
Kevin - You're right, of course, that placing profiles in the main library folders automatically makes them available to all users.
It’s a matter of policy where they should be placed - my own policy has always been to place them in the user library, since that folder is more likely to get backed up / archived. If all users on a particular machine need them then I'd place them in all user libraries.
A few custom profiles aren't taking up enough space to make that an issue.
Of course an EDU situation or similar, with many many users, would make this impractical and inspire a change to my normal policy
I hope this helps

Interesting, thanks for the update on your situation -
ICC profiles should be in:
computer name/hard disk name/Library/Colorsync/Profiles
there are also other locations too as per my earlier link
some folders are hidden, the username/ library for instance,
holding down the mouse on the GO menu button and "Alt" at the same time reveals that library
I hope this helps

Right-click on your sidebar folder and show in enclosing folder. I'm guessing its routed to the system library.
The other way is to change your Finder View menu to show the path bar.

Go to your Finder then the View menu. Select Show Path Bar.
(Mine shows hide since its on).
This could be a Mac OS restriction to allow shortucts to the hidden folder structure.

You were used to place your .icc profiles in: Library > ColorSync > Profiles. Me too.
since maybe Big Sur, things have slightly changed:
1) You weren't actually placing your icc profiles in a root folder but in a session folder (user). This folder is not anymore, thus you don't find it.
2) The way you used to do that is good and still working, but you have to do it in the library root folder: go to: HD > Library > ColorSync (here it is!) > profiles.
In addition I have been told that you can copy that ColorSync folder and place it where you thought it was lacking (..into the user library).
But it seems unecessary as per now placing the icc into the root library makes them available for all users of that machine, and not only one, even though you are probably the only one user of it.
feedbacks welcome
