Computer crashes when using Photoshop - Intel Arc 370M

My laptop repeatedly crashes when using Photoshop. It's an Asus Zenbook Pro with a 12th gen Intel i7 and Arc A370M Graphics.

I'm up to date on both drivers and photoshop version, and have done a clean install of each AND a full reinstall of Windows just to be sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash. 

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly? 

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back. 

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi @blakem82083668 Go to Photoshop Help Menu/System Info and copy/paste details in a reply. Post only once as the system takes time to process the large amount of data.

You mentioned "both drivers" if you have two GPUs you'll need to disable one.

- I'm not surprised you don't see any; I'm not able to submit a crash report as the entire system becomes unresponsive, therefore I get no crash reporter window.

- I've tried resetting settings as you've mentioned several times already, including a full reinstallation of Windows with no change in behaviour.

Hi @blakem82083668 you do have two drivers - and Intel Xe (discreet) and your Arc A370M.

Try using the link I sent to disable the Xe.

The link you've mentioned does not have any directions for setting a preference via Intel's systems. Unless I'm missing something, it sounds like you're telling me I need to disable the integrated entirely, which isn't a good option.

I can try as a troubleshooting step, but this is a pretty common configuration; it doesn't seem like that should be necessary for normal use.

Hi @blakem82083668 yes disabling the lesser powered GPU. Photoshop cannot utlize two graphics cards so it can lead to issues including crashes.

Disable the less powerful graphics card.

If the above step does not resolve issues when using more than one graphics card, consider disabling one of the graphics cards. Before disabling the onboard graphics card, please ensure you have the video output of your monitor connected to the dedicated graphics card.

To disable a graphics card, use the Device Manager on Windows. In the Device Manager, right-click the card's name and choose Disable.

Disable the intel card and restart your PC. Leave it like that if PS runs correctly.

So it sounds like you're saying that is the solution; I don't agree. There are some pretty big drawbacks in terms of battery life for that approach.

THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. I purchased the same Asus Zenbook for my graphic design education and experienced the same problems. I was able to run adobe software for about 3-5 minutes before my entire computer froze, forcing me to reboot, so there is no crash report to be sent and it is very diffucult to find people experienceing this same problem and solutions for it. The only solution I found to allow me to use Adobe is to delete the Arc A370M from my computer and download a previous version from Intel (Specifically V30.0.101.1631). I don't know if adobe is able to talk to Intel to respond to issue, but I think the reason it isn't on the radar is because it only seems to affect people with this specific laptop and the complete system freeze doesn't trigger a crash report/response.

Unfortunately that causes compatibility issues in other areas, Kevin. By doing that I'm basically being told I have to choose between being able to use Unity or being able to use Photoshop.

Let me know what they tell you. By the way Kevin, not trying to be rude, but doesn't help in the slightest. Downgrading our dGPU is NOT a solution, especially after paying about $1500 for a laptop with dGPU thinking that we'll have no issues running Adobe software. Tired of being tossed back and forth between Adobe and Intel trying to find find a solution, can someone there please send this up the pole and communicate to fix this???

Hi @onetrickpxny not offended but unfortunately this is an issue with the Intel drivers. They've been asking users to roll back on a lot of GPU related issues. We're all volunteers on here so not much we can do to shake the cage with Intel.

I also have the same exact laptop with the same exact issue. I have brought it to the geek squad three times, they have sent it out for repair. I'm hoping that someone can resolve this issue soon.
