I use a lot of pre-made actions in my photo editing, so I'm creating an action that creates a repeating grid of any image, then runs all my actions, and masks eat action onto it's corresponding image on the grid. (Basically: shows me a preview of how a group of actions would look if each one was applied to an image.)
I've gotten as far as making the gride of images, each with its own mask, running the actions and rearranging all the layers so they're stacked properly. Then here's my problem:
When working in photoshop, I can hold down "alt" and click and drag a layer mask to copy it from the image layer onto the action layer. Perfect!
However, when I record this, it records as "make" and then when I play it, i get the error message "the comand 'make' is not current available".
More info:
-I've tried creating my action with my color grading layers with and without layer masks before dragging the new one on to it. This doesn't get rid of the error.
-I've tried selecting the associated layers and merging them together. This creates odd effects since many of the layers have vignettes and things added across them that end up applying across my entire file. I need to be able to copy masks!
-Image attached of what the final outcome should look like if masking is played out correctly.

Can you take a screenshot of that step expanded in the Actions panel?
It would be helpful to stop the action when an error occurs and capture the entire window with the action step and the Layers panel both expanded and visible.

Sorry, ignore the other screenshot.. it cut off the selected layer. Here's where the error occurs. Right after layer 2 is selected, and i'm alt+dragging the layer mask from there onto the layer mask for "Campbells Soup Cans." If I tell Photoshop to skip this step after the error, it gives me the same error for every subsequent time i try to copy a layer mask.

Please post more meaningful screenshots – the »Make«-step is not expanded.
Edit: Actions usually (as far as I know) reference items like Layers by name, so unless the layers in the current file have the exact same names as in the file from the recording identification might be impossible.
