Hello, I am trying to create an action that will select subject (tif file with subject very clear) and then crop it to that selection. Currently when i make the action it crops to the same size as whatever i made the action on. This cuts off parts of images that are bigger or leaves too much space on smaller ones. Is there any way to make it crop to whatever is selected instead of what was originally selected when i made the action?

Please post a screenshot of your action set and action, all steps expanded and the panel wide enough to view all content.
It should be as simple as:
That being said, you may wish to take a look at the following:

Which tool/method is used to record crop step? It seems you have recorded exact dimensions at exact position. Can you expand action and post screenshot with expanded crop step (or step that performs selection and cropping)?

Do you really need an action or script? Select subject, press the C key, then Enter twice. If the goal is to have a margin, look at one of the script links below. Or if those aren't quite what you had in mind, explain more details and I might create another script. Or are you looking for code to select subject and crop for your own script?
