Default constrain proportions stopped working

Community Beginner ,
Jul 28, 2020 Jul 28, 2020

Hi folks

The new default to constrain proportions stopped working with free transform.

'Use Legacy Transform' is not checked.

App updated and restarted.

Can still shift contrain transform, but cant get it to work again as the default.

Thanks all!

As to the above answers, the issue was with the NEW 'auto constrain' deafult not working, and not being able to get it TO work, rather than being confused over the new feature.

After soem time however, the issue corrected itself. Must have been an odd bug after the update.

hi Carpe Damo,

Try making sure the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" icon is clicked. See image below.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Mark, yes, I should have specified, that WAS checked AND 'legacy transform' in setting was NOT checked (which is why it was so frustrating!). Checking and unchecking either and even restarting the app or Mac didnt change it... However... as mentioned it eventually 'corrected iteself' whhich was equally strange.

oh it was checked and legacy transform not checked.... then that is weird. Unless your shift key is sticky or stuck.

Hope you figured it out. You can always try resetting your workspace or restarting photoshop while holding down, command, option and shift to clear the preferences.

Happy Photoshopping!

best,

mark
