In Photoshop ( PS6 ), What I do is open a raw ( CR2 ) make various adjustments, etc., then save it off as a tif.
Then I take the tif, scale it down, and save it as a jpeg for web use, etc.
Thus, each time I go to save a file - I must first change the file type, as I am bouncing back an forth between tifs and jpegs and as Photoshop reverts to the last saved file type - I must always go in and select the other.
I was just wondering - if there was any way ( I cannot find one through preferences ) of having it default to save as jpeg - that way at least I would only have to change the file type half the time when I wanted iit to save as a tif.
May seem a small thing - but when you have done it 20,000 times....
Thanks for any wizardry or short cuts to help with this processing. I know about batch processing but I prefer to do this one by one as I go for the naming protocol is also different.
Thanks,
Sterne

Save for Web can be used to make the jpegs. You delete all tiffs afterwards if you don't need them. SFW keeps your settings (jpeg, compression, metadata, filename) and you can designate a folder for them. That's File > Save for Web

Ok, then you keep the tifs and use SFW to make the jpegs separately. The jpegs will not show up in Photoshop unless you open them.
