Hi Dave could you see whether this behaviour I found with Photoshop 2017 and Win10 is reproducible? It's really simple. Try running Photoshop as an Administrator. Right click photoshop.exe , select properties and check 'Run this program as an Administrator' and press OK
I find then when I then run Photoshop it kills dragging and dropping of image files into Photoshop. For example below there is an image open in Photoshop. When I try to drag a different image to the tabs bar or onto the image itself , I just get an icon saying it doesn't work.
If I run Photoshop without that box checked ie not as an Admin , dragging and dropping works fine.
It's a very trivial problem and easily resolved, but it makes me wonder if there are other implications of running Photoshop as an Admin as it's pretty common here to advise OPs to do that.

I can reproduce that, when it runs as Admin, when you run it as 'normal' everything works fine.
I try to find out what it's going wrong, i think it's something in the settings.

Thanks for trying that. It's not that I am so concerned about it not working, more a case of not wanting to recommend using 'admin' rights to users here who have other permission problems. I think it probably shows there is a small bug in the coding though.

for the pertormence with windows vista, it was better to run as admin, but from windows 8 or above i didn't use it any more and run it as normal. I find something that would give a solution but a bit afraid for the security of the system. When turn of the LUA in the register of windows it seems to work. I don't know if this is safe.
so try on one risk or do not
regedit
local machine/software/microsoft/windows/policies/system
look for EnableLUA and set to zero
mine advice,run photoshop just normal

Hi Terri
Yes I can confirm "Run as admin" does kill drag and drop.
I try never to run programs as admin unless absolutely necessary

Hi Dave,
thank you also for checking that out. As I said above, the question is a bit academic as we usually don't run as administrators. I only came across it after someone in the office told me that Photoshop runs faster with 'admin' rights-which it doesn't lol. Funny enough dragging and dropping from the library does still work under those conditions. I'll put in a bug report just in case there are more deep seated implications. Thanks again

I cannot comment on other users eyesight. I can confirm that the taskbar hides correctly in CC2017 with Windows 10 fully up to date (1607 (OS build 14393.447)
It does not hide in full screen with CC2015.5.1 / CS6 - however I normally run three monitors so that is not an issue here
