Edited Image from Luminar Neo Appears Black in Photoshop After Hitting “Apply”

The issue:

 

  • I open an image in Photoshop
  • Launch Luminar Neo via Filter > Skylum Software > Luminar Neo
  • Do my edits in Luminar Neo
  • Click “Apply” to return the image to Photoshop
  • The image returns to Photoshop as a completely black layer — no visual content

 

Notes:

 

  • Luminar Neo works fine as a standalone app
  • The issue only happens when returning to Photoshop

    Skylum fixed the bug. Just update Neo. Works perfectly now.

    I found THE FIX on Reddit!!! I am using Photoshop 26.8.1 and the Luminar Neo 1.24.5 update (which is REQUIRED for the fix to work).

     

    Here's what I did to get Luminar Neo to start working properly again:

     

    1. I dragged Luminar Neo from my Applications folder onto AppCleaner. This completely removed all files from the previous installation of Luminar Neo on my Mac Mini.
    2. I then made sure Photoshop wasn't running, and installed the updated version of Luminar Neo.
    3. I then launched Luminar Neo as a standalone application (by double-clicking Luminar Neo in the Applications folder), and when Neo started up it said it would REPLACE my Photoshop plugins (I clicked “Okay”). Neo then said something like “You'll need to restart Photoshop for the Luminar Neo plugin to function”.
    4. When I reopened Photoshop, Luminar Neo functioned perfectly.

     

    Just installing the Luminar Neo update didn't fix the problem for me... I had to follow the procedure above to get it to work.

    Skylum fixed the bug. Just update Neo. Works perfectly now.

    No, it's not working on my MacBook Pro (M4 Max). Neither Luminar nor Aperty.

    This still hapen. I used now LumNeo plugin and get black, as many users. cant wait if this issue will fix Adobe, or Luminar team? ,...cant wait,..

      I am also having the same issue here. After editing in the Luminar Neo Plugin, Photoshop returns a black screen. I am using M4 MAX 48 GB. Do you have any suggestions?

      I have the same issue. I have a new Macbook Pro with M4 chip and 24 gigs of Ram running Sequoia 15.4.1 and have tried numerous things that Luminar support has asked me to try. I've unintalled/reinstalled plugin for Luminar. I've tried updating to the latest version of PS and also tried rolling back to version 26.5... still no luck. Been trying to fugure this out for about three weeks now... very frustrating. Skylum folks are pointing their fingers at PS as causing the issue. Another family member has the exact same laptop and software and her plugin for Luminar works fine in PS. Not sure how to troubleshoot any further. If you figure anything out I'd love to know.

      When the image opens in Photoshop from Luminar Neo, do you see the image in the Layers panel and Navigator panel

      or is it black there too?

      Thanks for sharing the system info, but it is partial. Please hold the Shift key when you launch Photoshop to skip loading 3rd party plugins. 

      Also, please update the macOS on your machine & check how it goes.

      There was a recent bug in Photoshop on the Mac side with images turning black after opening, so make sure you have newest Photoshop version 26.6.1

      If from within Photoshop you go to Help>System Info what does the top line Adobe Photoshop Version say?
