I work in several layers. For one layer I choose "add a layer mask". I use the eraser tool. Then I hold "alt" down to make it a history eraser tool. And I get this message: Could not use the history eraser because the history state does not contain a corresponding layer", this even if I can see in the history board that it seems to be there.

I have often used this metod, and never had this problem, never got this message before. I cant see what I do different this time. Anyone have a suggestion?

Greetings, Tone

When you set the source for the history brush, in the history panel,  have you made sure it is after you added the layer & mask as below

Thank you, Davescm, yes, I did add the layer mask first, but when I looked at your screenshot, I saw that I did not have put in the pencel mark at left for the layer mask symbol, and when I put that mark on, it worked perfectly! Thank you very much, you made my day! 🙂
