Eraser tool problem

I was using the eraser brush yesterday and it was fine, today i open the same document and found my eraser is doing this;

So, i went into brush setting and can't see anything that would indicate why this is happening or how to reverse it.

It's only doing it with the eraser, the brush tool is working as should.

Never mind it just started working on its own, I changed nothing - I just went and made tea and then i came back tried again and worked!
