Error 520: unable to create temporary image file

Hello,

I've been constantly and repeatably experiencing this error the first 2 times I launch my script. Third and subsequent lauches go smoothly, unless I reboot PS - which moves the situation back to square one (1st launch fails, 2nd launch fails, 3rd is ok).

The script contains, among the rest, a ScriptUI window with embedded graphics - as suggested in the ScriptUI Guide for Dummies I use the following code to serialize PNG icons:

which I then embed as (looong) strings this way:

win.previewAndProgressGroup.zoomGroup.zoomFitButton.image = zoomInPNG;

so far I've never had any problem - strangely enough I'm now getting this error (and this weird pattern of fails and successes). I forgot to mention that when the script runs as it is supposed to do, the graphics are ok.

If you're wondering, OSX 10.8.2, PS CS6 (13.0.3).

I am having the exact same issue now in After Effects.

It was working for months! now any script that has an embedded image is not loading and giving this error??

I'm afraid I haven't. I've had to resort pointing to external resources.

I start thinking that the newest updates did introduce some weird bugs (as long as Photoshop is concerned, new window crash and extension icons for instance).

I created 200 px * 200 px with resolution 100 px/in document in Photoshop, then filled it some grey colour. After saving as .png file in 'Icons' folder on desktop I put there also .jsx file with your script. Then I ran it few times by ExtendScript ToolKit and Adobe Ps CS6 (13.1.2 x64). Each time it worked. Here's the script I used with converted binaries of earlier created .png:

In my case this was affecting the replacement of images inside a scriptui element, dynamically. Even though upon creation the embedded images could be rendered, changing them after a user event produced a "File not found" error, although the same exact resource was used as on the dialog creation.

Well, I now always write all embedded images to a script folder and use file references on those pngs in the file system which avoids the error.

I'm not sure what you're saying in your first sentence. Please post a sample, so I may test it and see how that works for me to avoid reading .png icons from disk. Maybe there is needed some modification noone had idea for yet...

In previous post I forgot to mention I used a script rewritten by Paul Riggott upon Marc Autret idea, however modified in many parts by myself, increased of new content and with a fix to error for files with too big dimension:

After running your scripts, look in the Temp folder. There will be files like comAdobeScriptUI *******.

This is your files (PNG or JPG). They are not deleted when you exit Photoshop.

If they accumulate quite a lot, then the photoshop may have problems.

If you use a fixed real file instead of a string for the "icon" parameter, this does not happen.

Do you mean if I run a script of original poster there will be created 'comAdobeScriptUI *******' in the Windows 'Temp' folder? I did so, but no any new files are created to that folder. Is it created for you?

There it was about CS6. Check under original conditions.

I thought it maybe changed with some CC version. I tried now with CS6 and still nothing 😞

Edit: again I'm stupid like always! The given script only creates code for image, but it does not use it. So I tried a code I posted in this thread. You're right. comAdobeScriptUI0 is created 😄

Unfortunately the file is not created when using the script in Photoshop 22.4.3
