For the past couple of days, whenever I try to save to PDF, I get the following error message if I uncheck "Preserve photoshop editing capabilities":
The Adobe Photoshop document has not been saved completely because the current file format does not support all the features of your document. Would you like to save the document in a format that supports all its features?
The file seems to save, even though I do get this error message when I try to close the file. I'm not sure if this will cause the file to be corrupted or something? I've been saving files to pdf almost daily for many years and this is the first time I've seen this error message. I have not changed any settings.
I just updated photoshop to the latest version. Perhaps this is what has caused this?
@Stephen Marsh is right, I was able to reproduce issue on Windows. Just check Enabel legacy Save As in Preferences > File Handling and error message will go away.

What is the original file, is it a layered PSD or TIFF?
Or is the original a Photoshop PDF which you are resaving as a PDF?
There were recent changes made where the new "Save As a Copy" feature was required to save various formats, which can be changed in Preferences > File Handling: Enable Legacy Save As
