Export many files at once in webp format Photoshop

Hello, 

I have a question about webp format in photoshop. I want to export many files at once in webp format in Photoshop but I don't find the webp format in photoshop options. Is it normal?

WebP was introduced in Ps2022 as a native Save As (a Copy) option, not under Export As/Quick Export. You will either need to set up a batch action to save directly to WebP or to convert from PNG to WebP or use a custom script to save or convert to WebP.

 

In previous versions, there were 3rd party plugins from Google or other developers.

Here is a batch script to save as WebP.

 

Features:

* Optionally run an action (edit the code to enable)

* Optionally ask to overwrite existing files (edit the code to enable)

* Set an input and output folder

* Set supported input file types (edit the code)

* Automatically converts non-RGB mode to sRGB space, 8 bpc

* RGB files automatically converted to 8 bpc

Perhaps add panels which show option names. It will group items and look more defined

 

See here my example, where i used your initial code to add webp as an export type

PS how do you guys get that enlarg icon when placing an image. Ive never seen an option for that. Thats why i always use large. But thats not clickable, tried all sizes, but never is clickable in my case

Nice script, the only issue I have is that running the script, is it renders my 2024 mac studio useless.
I cant work, while it runs. When I alt tab to something else, the screen keeps popping back to photoshop.

I remember this issues on OSX. Sadly this is an os issue. I worked till last year on an Mac pro 2.1 from 2009nrunnijng El Capitan, had this same issue.

 

I also have a WI does laptop and his does NOT show this "issue". 

 

Perhaps the devs need to do something specific on osx side to turn this behavior off.

 

If you run a Google inn this subject, youpl find tons of people asking / wondering the same. Makes me wonder if it actually can be foxed

Photoshop scripts are modal, and Photoshop actually opens a window to work on an image. So yes a batch export will keep switching to photoshop. Not much you can do about that except use a different app.
