Exporting File Issue with Size

I have a problem when it comes to exporting my file, which is supposed to be 42x200inches/ 126000x60000px. In photoshop under the image size and canvas size it says that the work is 126000x60000px, but when I go to export it says the file is 4536x21600px. Anyone know of a way to fix this or why this is happening?

You do not tell the whole story:

• What is your OS and version?
• What is your Ps version (exact version please)?
• How did you do that « export »?
• What is your file format?

126000x60000px at 300DPI would be 420"x200"   12600x60000 at 300dpi would be 42"x200"

4536x21600px at 108DPI would be  42"x200"

I do not use export it normally use to save web assets so would not set any DPI most likely but there is a scale field in the export dialog is your set to 100%  it look like it was scaled to 36% size

If you open the 4536x21600 image Photoshop may default it to 72DPI and would be an image 63"x300"

Thank you. I see what you mean by the scale being 36% instead of 100%. However, for some reason it will not allow me to change that percentage. Every time I try to change it, it goes straight back to 36%. Also, for some reason when I go to export, save for web, isn't available. Any further ideas on what the issue may be?

The Export feature is not designed for huge images like this, which most likely exceeds the maximum pixel dimensions allowed. Use Save As instead, which will let you save a new file with the original dimensions.

Also you might not need 300 ppi for an image this size, which is normally seen from a distance. Depending on your requirements, 150 ppi, or even 100 may be enough, which will reduce pixel dimensions and file size significantly.

Export is normally used to save web assets.   So your problem may have to do with some size  limitation.   A height of 60,000 is not a normal web size asset.   Old Photoshop versions a 30,000x30,000 canvas size was the limit. 60,000 pixel height is not usual.

mmzentz, you don't need 300 ppi. That is a misunderstanding. At this size, 100 ppi is more than enough.

As a general rule of thumb, if your file exceeds 20 000 pixels on the long side, it's probably overkill. You normally don't need more pixels with increased physical size. The viewing distance will increase in step.
