Extreme Slow Performance and Lag

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the performance of Adobe Photoshop. I rely heavily on this software to complete my work, but I have been experiencing significant issues with its responsiveness and speed.

The software is almost impossible to work with as it hardly responds, and there are frequent crashes which have resulted in loss of important files and documents. This has led to a significant decrease in my productivity, and I am unable to complete my work on time. I have tried troubleshooting and optimizing my system, but the issue persists.

I urge Adobe to provide a solution to this problem as soon as possible. I have invested a significant amount of money in this software, and I expect it to perform at the highest level. It is extremely frustrating to deal with such poor performance, and I believe that it is unacceptable for a product of this caliber.

Most of us don't have these problems, so I think you need to start by posting your system info (Help > System Info, just paste the whole thing in a reply).

Crashing is usually the GPU, and a frequent problem is laptops with dual graphics. They will conflict, and the official advice is to disable the integrated GPU.

Another possible problem is related to Ryzen CPUs. You may need to update the BIOS if that's what you have.

Other than that, without any system specifics, it's just guesswork.

When Photoshop crashes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

If that doesn't fix the issue:
Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
Still crashing? 
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still crashing?

Congrats on getting your system running better. A question though on wheter you have configured PS to update auto? Not sure I caught it but it appeared you had a version of PS which is/was a couple months old. Not sure this had any impact on your situation, but suggest installing updates as released. Especially if you are troubleshooting. The updates may have the solution or they may have improved a tool. 

The Info Tool panel also provides a lot of information IMHO anyway. Also on my laptop I find if I reduce the number of History States it helps with the performance.

Just wanted to add my own voice to this. I also have terrible performance from Photoshop in Ventura on a Mac Pro M1. Photoshop is slow, jerky, breaks fonts into pieces, can't move objects without a huge delay, generally absolutely awful. Every click on every task has a delay before execution. I've posted up my system info on another thread about this, tried a few things, but it's still dire. Desperately bad compared to Photoshop 6 on my old iMac. What gives, Adobe? This is not what I pay a subscription for. I've been using Photoshop professionally since the late 90s and this is the worst it's ever been.

absolutely useless, the whole 2024 package. I am running the highest spec macbook pro from 2020 and both illustrator and photoshop are so laggy that its impossible to work. Further to this, they will not allow you to install previous versions before Illustrator 27.0 or Photoshop 22.2 so even if you want to return to the 2022 stable version you can't. 

My specs are as below and im running Sonoma 14.0 OS. 

I even just went as far as to completely reinstall the operating system and run nothing but the CC suite and it is still insanely slow. 

Please give me a direct download link to the stable 2022 Adobe CC immediately.
