Feature Request: enable layers for indexed colors images

can you please enable layers with pictures using indexed colors please?

when working with this kind of content, it's really a nightmare not having access to layers

As the requirements of working with an indexed pallet of <256 colours is very different to full colour images, I'd be interested to see how Adobe would implement this if it was added. This has traditionally been handled by working in RGB and then using a "late binding" conversion via Save for Web or Export As.
