Frame Tool in CC20 jumps into randon Layer!

Hey Guys,

I have an existing Document I would like to implement some new Frames to easily drag and drop some cloud content.

As you can see, I have the content itself (Masked Layer 'erde') with a black layer above. I have duplicated the black layer to turn it into a frame - It is just a black layer with 10% opacity I also have turned to 100% to turn it into a frame.

In another document before it worked pretty well and got applied on the layer below.

In my actual document, the new generated frame is applied into (randomly??) the 's360 Icon' Layer. Not even close to the one I would like to apply, or the one I am turning into a frame.

Is there any system (There is no option to convert the object into a frame and say like "Apply to Layer below" or something. I can just name it.

Even if I select the layer with my cloud content 'erde', and create a new frame with the shortcut 'K' or by clicking the tool icon:

The new frame jumps automatically to the same 's360 Icon' layer you can see in the previous screenshot:

So is it a bug with some older files, or is there something I am missing?

Thanks in advance,

Baris

It's very hard to tell what you are doing, but perhaps these bits of information will help you explore the feature further:

    1. Frames have auto-nesting behavior, like artboards. When you place an empty Frame, it looks to "wrap itself around" existing content that is on the canvas. There are several rules in play for auto-nesting, including a heuristic that prevents auto-nesting if the content is determined to be too big.

So my advice is to pay attention to the size and location of content that might be pulled into the Frame.

    2. Frames can only contain one layer at this time. And that layer is always a smart object. So to contain several layers within a Frame (like artwork for a button control bar), convert the desired layers to a smart object, and then put the smart object in the Frame.

Tahnk you for your advise CJButler, and Thanks to Adobe for marking his answer as helpful without asking me if it actually was..

The issue is that I have big size Content I would like to replace. Thats what you get when you design for web... I actually did what you say but the problem was still there. So, the answer is not correct unfortunately.

@Adobe: How about answering my mails instead of marking my questions as helpful?
There are still issues with your older Versions you did not fix in the newer versions....
