Generative Fill Removal

New Here ,

Is there a trick to getting generative fill to remove objects? Sometimes it does. But the majority of the time, even if i write "remove" in the prompt, it will replace the object with something else.
This seems to happen the most when trying to remove a person. It will almost always just add an AI person (which almost never look like a real person).

Hey, @caiphotos.

Try selecting the object you wish to remove and delete the contents of the selection.

Use the same selection and use Generative Fill to in-paint in the space. Use the Remove tool at the edges to smooth out the output further.

Thanks!
Sameer K

Thanks for at least trying to suggest an alternative but, I've run across exactly the same problem. I've tried your suggestion and it has not worked yet. Some of the replacements are downright creepy....

I tried selecting the subject and saving the selection. Then, selectingt multiple areas of the image which would be acceptable replacements and created a mask. Then, clicked on thumbnail, reloaded my subject selection, hit Generative fill and voila - each example had someone in it and I'm pretty sure one of them was a corpse...!

If you're trying to remove content, then try using the Remove tool that @Sameer K recommended instead of Generative Fill.

did you try with other terms such as "Delete" or "Erase" or being more precise. "Delete people in the background"?

I had the same problem and it helped in some cases.

But I prefer useing the Remove tool which is way faster
