Hi Johan,

Sorry that you're getting a text engine error message in Photoshop CS6.

Please explain the issue you're facing in more detail with a brief description of your workflow? Which version of Photoshop CS6 are you using and what is your operating system?

If using Windows OS, would you mind checking the steps below?

  • Close Photoshop, clear the font cache, and restart.
  • Exit Photoshop.
  • In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop/CT Font Cache folder.
  • Move these two files to the Recycle Bin: AdobeFnt_CMaps.lst and AdobeFnt_OSFonts.lst
  • Empty the Recycle Bin and restart Photoshop.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi Akash
Thank you for your help.

I'm Windows 10 as my OS

As said previously, when in PhotoShop CS6 using the Text tool the message
"Text engine not working"
I have uninstalled and re-installed the program from my original Disk.
It worked for a couple of times and I thought the problem was solved until
a few days ago. The same error message appeared.

I tried, as you suggested
C: user/johan/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe PhotoShop cs6/ From there its
different, the following folders available:
Adobe PhotoShop CS6
Adobe PhotoShop CS6 Settings
Auto Recover
Optimized Colors
Optimize Color settings
Optimize Settings
Presets
But no CT Font Cache.

I've also experienced some font problems in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, but
managed my way around although its not right

Your help would really be appreciated

Regards
Johan

CS6 is an old version of Photohop – you need to upgrade to the latest version 2020, to have a stable system, and lots of new features. The Photography Plan includes Photoshop, and upgrades as they become available, plus Lightroom and some cloud storage for around $10 a month.

I use CS6 with Windows 10 64 bit and have no issues of any kind. The operating system is  not the issue.

Some people seem able to run Photoshop CS6 under Windows 10 without any problems, others report issues, so don't entirely discount this possibility and, if your Photoshop work is mission critical, be careful!
