GPU issues after using remove tool

Every time I use the Remove Tool on around 10 photos, I can no longer use the Liquify feature or other gpu related features unless I restart Photoshop. After restarting, Liquify works normally, but the issue repeats after using the Remove Tool again.

If I set my image processing to "More Accurate" (instead of "Faster"), the problem doesn’t occur, but the performance becomes too slow. For my workflow, the "More Accurate" setting doesn’t make any noticeable difference, so it’s not a viable solution.

I’ve noticed that many others have reported this same issue, but Adobe seems to be ignoring it completely.

Steps I’ve already tried:

• Resetting Photoshop
• Using older versions
• Performing a clean install of Windows
• Changing the GPU (currently using an RTX 3080)
• Testing on both my desktop and laptop (both with NVIDIA graphics cards, all drivers updated)
• Testing on Photoshop Beta 26.3, Photoshop 26.0, Photoshop 25.1, and Photoshop 2023 (specific version unknown).
• Already using latest STUDIO drivers by Nvidia

All versions of Photoshop that utilize the "Faster" or "More Accurate" processing options exhibit this issue. When set to "More Stable," the problem disappears, but performance becomes so slow that it disrupts my workflow.

I’ve also noticed that when this issue occurs, it seems as though the Remove Tool reverts to the "More Stable" mode. I can observe this by checking the Task Manager, where every stroke suddenly starts using 100% CPU instead of the GPU.

It’s a frustrating issue that significantly impacts my productivity, and no viable solution has been provided so far.

This is a very memory-intensive function, exceeding RAM and requiring virtual memory (disk). As far as I know, it uses the system pagefile, it does not go to the Photoshop scratch disk.

So if you're low on disk space or RAM, the system pagefile may not be sufficient to handle it. This will slow the whole system down.

Im using a rtx 3080, have 32gb ram, more the 500gm free on the disk; this issue didnt happen before when i had amd video card.

This issue didnt happen when i had amd gpu, only with nvidia

I noticed that every time i swap tools and then go back to remove tool, the first strroke takes a while to complete, maybe this is the issue, cause if I dont swap tools i dont have this issue

Yes, but as you can see, no one came to help, not even one adobe staff. i cant work with this issue.

These AI-based functions are very memory-intensive, requiring virtual memory (disk) beyond what is available in RAM. However, the do not go to the Photoshop scratch disk, they use the system pagefile.

The system pagefile is managed by Windows, normally 1.5 x installed RAM, but it should expand as needed - if you have enough available disk space.
