Greetings folks

When editing raw photos occasionally I get the message pop up "GPU runtime error.Camera raw requires gpu accelaration. This has been disabled for rest of session"  As a work around I close the session then go back in later.Came up once after about 3 edits.Today it came up after about 20.This has only appeared since last Camera Raw update. GPU has tested compatible with photoshop. 1tb ssd 32gbram.

AMD Radeon Pro WX3200 Graphic .Photoshop 25-9-1 Camera raw v16-4. Thankyou for any help received.

Late answer: anyone who has used Photoshop with an ATI/Radeeon GPU for any length of time alongside nVidia GPUs will notice this kind of error and erratic performance has long been an issue for Adobe that they simply ignore. I can't recall ever seeing this error when using an nVidia GPU over many years, but it is annoyingly frequent with ATI GPUs. Using an ATI GPU in an X86 Apple machine is comparable to the Windows experience but not quite as bad. Adobe and ATI have forever pointed fingers at each other and one particular finger at their customers. In my sad experience the instability issues have gotten worse with the latest iterations of Photoshop and the raw converter in both Windows and macOS X86 versions.

Hi folks

Have  reported this issue a couple of times but still happens as stated in the title at random times.I tried to edit one photo today and the GPU Runtime error message appeared. Another time it may happen after several photos.Camera Raw is disabled for the rest of the session! So to carry on its a case of exit Photoshop and then go back in a bit later.

Steps so far

1 GPU confirmed compatable

2 GPU
AMD Radeon Pro WX3200 Graphics .Correct software and drivers ok after Windoze update decided to remove them and put their own in!!   Is there a fix available for this annoying error ? Thankyou

Hey Bomber33, Welcome to the Photoshop Community.

I'll need more details to help you. Could you share a screenshot of the error?

Please share the system info of Photoshop from Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > Upload as an attachment here or copy/paste in the reply.

Please check the GPU compatibility from here: https://adobe.ly/3zbXJwt

Note - I see you have posted another thread, so I am merging this one with the one you created.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Shivani

@Ged_Traynor  Some of the suggestions to fix this isssue say to update grahics drivers. When I tried Ifound out that Windows update had over ridden the correct AMD software etc!! I got in touch with Microsoft who gave me instructions how to remove all existing AMD software and then update to the correct drivers etc. After I did this I edited some RAW files Sturday without issue.Edited some more on Sunday (approx 40 ) all was ok until the very last one.I then got the GPU runtime error appear.Switched Photoshop off and then on again and was able to complete editing. As advise gpu is advised by Photoshop as compatible. Any ideas where I go from here please? Thankyou
