I'm fighting Gradient Layers in artboards for a long time now. I've posted in other's people discussions here, but PS devs don't seem to understand. Clearly they don't use their own software.
- If you have multiple artboards and delete one, other gradient layers get messed up;
- When your expot artboard using "Automate > Artboards to files...", gradients get messed up;
- If you check "Align with layer" in the Gradient settings, and then move it using the new Gradient tool, it unchecks that setting;
- When you duplicate a Artboard, gradient layer change scale and lose their "Align with layer" check;
- When you create a Gradient Layer, the layer mask should be the size of the arboard, AND NOT the full canvas (this is the most ridiculous one, since the gradient only appears in the artboard that is in, why would you need a mask bigger then the artboard itself?)
I recorded videos showing all the wrong behaviours that I fight with every day.
I use these features everyday, and let me tell you, this is not how they should work.
Clearly either arboarts or gradient layers are broken, and the fact that Adobe releases a product like this and do not take the time to test it and fix it only reinforces the ideia that they keep releasing new features without proper time to develop them only to justify their subscription model.
EDIT: I uploaded another video, showing the issue on an actual file from my client, and how the Gradient Layer gets messed up when you use automate. Why my exported file looks different from the .psd? Why is this a normal/default behaviour?
EDIT: Since it has been months and still no awnser from Adobe, I uploaded video showing that gradients layers are STILL BROKEN and don't work correclty.

I've been having this same issue and it is SO FRUSTRATING! I haven't found any real help in the support forums either. I have no solution to offer...just commiseration. You explained all the aspects of this issue very well in this post. I hope someone at Adobe sees it.

I converted my gradient layer to a smart object and duplicating the artboard did not mess em up anymore. Rasterize works too.
