Hi,

This morning the spacebar shortcut to the hand tool quit working.  I reset my PS preferences (argh!) but that did not help.  I saw on this forum that the culprit could be Chrome.  I quite Chrome and now it works!  Any advice other than don't use Chrome?

Thanks.

Steve

(I'm running PS 22.0.1, MacOS 11.0.1, and Chrome 87.0.4280.88)

I did some more reading on this forum and it's not so much Chrome being open but Chrome being open with a lot of tabs.  I routinely have LOTS of tabs so I closed about a dozen and now everything (appears to be) fine!

Maybe this thread is long done, but invariably I've found that (in my case), OnePassword is the problem. The second I quit that app... voila: spacebar & hand/move tool functionality returns. Why would a password storage app affect this? The answer is simple: I have no clue.

Interesting.  Although my problem was solved by closing tabs in Chrome, I do used 1Password!

I’m guessing that both of these programs are issuing a call on SPACEBAR function that conflicts with the default Adobe keyboard shortcut - speaking of which, it would be nice if Adobe could at least make those shortcuts consistent across the Creative Cloud apps. But that’s a different thread.

Closing Chrome didn't fix this, but closing OnePassword did for me on my Mac. OnePassword has a shortcut, [period] + [spacebar], that you press to call up the OnePassword login modal, which I guess is a global shortcut that snatches spacebar presses away from Photoshop (occasionally).
