I've just purchased a new Macbook and am trying to reinstall my Adobe Design Studio software onto it. This software was working perfectly on my old laptop, but after downloading it, I get the below message when trying to finish the install process:
"The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information."
How can I get the Adobe Design Studio onto my new laptop using the original software I've already purchased and paid for? I don't want to have to purchase it again....

Legacy Creative Suite software is discontinued and will NEVER run on Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey or Apple M1 Chip computers. Sorry.
You need modern software that is compatible with your new bleeding edge computer.
MODERN OPTIONS:
Photoshop Elements (approx $100, no subscription needed).
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html
Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 12 months). Includes the following:
- Photoshop CC and Photoshop on iPad
- Lightroom on desktop, mobile and the web
- Lightroom Classic
- Portfolio website + hosting
- Bridge
- 20 GB cloud storage (upgradable to 1 TB).

Beware of fake Adobe reps who may contact you privately offering to sell you software or take control of your computer. It's a scam, run away! Real Adobe employees will never reach out via Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail or Skype.

You can continue running CS6 on your older hardware and older macOS, but it will not run with newer versions of macOS. Follow Nancy's advice if you need to run Photoshop on your new computer.

That seems like the best way forward to me as well Jane. CS6 was designed to run on hardware available at that time so you are not losing anything in it not running on current hardware.

That seems a bit unfair since I've already purchased the product. Are you able to supply me with a download link to replace the software I've already purchased with?

Unfortunately, there is no such link. You'll have to subscribe a Cloud plan to use Adobe software on your new computer.

Unfortunately, it is simply the same for any Mac software, from any company, that was written before the point where Apple started to tighten the technical and security requirements to get Apple software ready for the new Apple Silicon processors.
All of those companies, including Adobe, have continually upgraded their software over the years so that there are now versions that are fully compatible with the latest Macs. But all of those companies who sold software at the same time as the CS6 Design bundle was released, also require a paid upgrade from the version then to the current version, unless the software was free originally.
You did already pay for your software, and you can still run it perfectly…on any hardware that it was intended for. The problem you are facing now is that the CS6 Design bundle was not written for today’s Macs, and having to pay for a current version would have happened no matter what comparable software, from any company, you would have bought back in 2012 (when the CS6 Design bundle was released), almost a decade ago.

It's unfair to expect a software maker to GIVE you free software forever. That's not what you purchased.
The license you bought was for 3-5 years or until it would no longer work on your system. I think it's fair to say you got more than your money's worth, don't you?
You can buy new software now or keep using your old computer. Your choice.
But I must say this, Photoshop CC is waaaaay more advanced than it's Creative Suite predecessors. So if you're not a power user, the more affordable PS Elements will probably be all you need for the next 3-5 years, or until Apple radically changes their OS again. 🙃
Do whatever works best for you. Best of luck!

That’s a realistic expectation for the usefulness of the license, but it should be reasserted that the license is perpetual…the license never expires, it is good forever. Keep using the application on hardware that runs it, and it can run forever.
The only problem here is trying to run it on hardware too far forward of what it was coded for.
As for the “unfairness” of it, it’s easier to understand if the situation is turned around. Suppose you did some hired photography or graphics work for a client 10 years ago, and they paid you 10 years ago. Today they realize that work is out of date and not consistent with what they need today. So they come back to you and say “Can you provide a complete replacement of your work, fully updated for today?” You say “Sure.” Then they say “But I will not pay you.” What is your answer? Will you fully update the client’s 10-year-old job, for free? Is that worth your time?
Or is it more fair for you to charge that client for a full update of a project you finished and billed for 10 years ago?

We're probably just chasing cars here. In any case, PERPETUAL license in software legal-speak does NOT mean a "forever license" with access ad infinitum. Since Adobe and its suppliers own the software, they can legally pull the plug on it at anytime.
At some point in the not too distant future, CS5 & CS6 activation servers will be shut down and installers removed as has already occurred with CS1 - 4, Flash Player and many other products.
