Help. I can't open an obj. file in Photoshop CC 2017

Hi,

I am trying to open a obj. file in photoshop CC 2017, but it gives an error: Not the right kind of document.

I read somewhere that you can only open 3d files in CS6 extended, but even that doesn't work. (also i prefer working in cc).

Please someone give me an explanation or a tutorial on how to fix this.

Can you open the .obj file in any 3d application.  This type of file often require other files as well like material files for texture applied to surfaces.  Are you sure you have a valid 3d model obj file?

I just opened the file in open3mod and it displayed the model without any problems, so it's not the fault of the .obj file. Also the file is downloaded from an official source.

Report it as a bug to Adobe at Photoshop Family Customer Community  site include the obj file so Adobe can test with it..

You can open OBJ files in CC2017. If an associated material file is missing it will usually open as an object without the textures.  It may be something about your particular file so it will be worth posting at the link JJMack gave you.

Hi dave,

The obj file is a weapon model for a game. I wanna customize the uv sheet (weapon skin) and see the changes live on the obj file.
